Antihistamine Comparison

Every antihistamine on the slides side by side: how long it lasts, and how sedating, antiemetic and anticholinergic it is. First-generation agents are the sedating ones.

Lecture 5 — Ear, Nose and Throat Drugs 10 rows

The pattern to know: the second-generation agents (cetirizine, fexofenadine, loratadine) are the least sedating and have almost no anticholinergic effect, and cetirizine and loratadine last 24 hours. First-generation agents are sedating and anticholinergic; promethazine and hydroxyzine are strongly antiemetic. This is the table behind the patient who drives for a living.
